Browns WR Corey Coleman cleared of assault charge

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Corey Coleman had been accused of assault, but after a lengthy investigation he’s been fully cleared of any wrongdoing.

The incident in question took place on New Year’s Eve this past year. Coleman was alleged to have been involved in an attack that left victim Adam Sapp hospitalized with a ruptured eardrum and a concussion. However, Coleman and his agent adamantly denied he was involved in the incident, and he was not indicted for the crime, though his brother was.

After DNA testing was conducted, police were unable to implicate Coleman for the assault.

Coleman can now fully concentrate on his football career, putting this matter behind him for good.

The second-year receiver out of Baylor missed six games due to injury last year but showed some good things when he played. Coleman finished his rookie campaign with 33 receptions for 413 yards and three touchdowns.
