Titans ink Corey Davis, previously highest unsigned draft pick

The Titans have signed rookie No. 5 overall pick Corey Davis.

The Tennessee Titans announced on Saturday that they have come to terms with rookie No. 5 overall pick Corey Davis. The Western Michigan product was the highest unsigned draft pick from the 2017 class prior to Saturday’s news.

Davis’ agent, Tom Condon, represents San Francisco 49ers rookie Solomon Thomas, who signed his rookie deal with the team on Friday. This likely held up negotiations with Davis for a bit. But the money itself was never an issue. Instead, it was all about off-set language and the Titans protecting their investment. There’s no word on how the deal itself looks.

Davis, 22, put up 97 receptions for 1,500 yards and 19 touchdowns for Central Michigan last season. In all, the 6-foot-3 receiver tallied 1,400-plus yards in each of his final three seasons with the Broncos.

Now that he’s in camp and ready to go, it would not be a surprise if Davis found himself starting for the Titans as a rookie in 2017. His presence could be a real boon for young signal caller Marcus Mariota as the Titans look to improve off their surprising nine-win 2016 campaign.
