Seahawks add Pro Bowler in rare player-for-player trade with Chiefs

Seahawks add Pro Bowler D.J. Alexander in trade.

Two former AFC West rivals came together Friday in a rare player-for-player swap with training camps getting going around the league.

The Seattle Seahawks dealt linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for fellow linebacker D.J. Alexander.

It’s not as much the names as it is a rarity for teams to make such a trade around the National Football League.

As it relates to the players, Pierre-Louis was a fourth-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2014. He started just one of the 34 games in which he appeared, playing primarily on special teams. The Boston College product will add depth to Kansas City’s linebacker group.

For his part, Alexander was a fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015. He’s been a special teams standout for the squad over the past two seasons, earning a Pro Bowl nod in that role last season.
