Richard Sherman: ‘I do not want out of Seattle’

Richard Sherman

It’s been a busy off-season for Richard Sherman and the Seattle Seahawks. They’ve been hit with an abundance of rumors, some of which have even been confirmed. Sherman penned an article for The Players’ Tribune where he detailed what his offseason has been like.

While Sherman said that the craziest part of his offseason has been baby-proofing his house, he did address football-related issues. Those include sideline arguments with Pete Carroll, possible trades, and a lively 2014 practice that included him cursing at Russell Wilson. For the most part, he confirmed that the rumors were true, but occasionally overblown.

But one rumor that he shot down was the idea that he wanted to leave the Seahawks.

“The truth is, I do not want out of Seattle. Let me say it again….I do not want out of Seattle,” Sherman wrote. “I couldn’t be happier with where I am, or where we’re at as a team. We’ve had a great run of off-season workouts. Earl Thomas is back. Michael Bennett and the other guys who have been banged up — myself included — are healthy and ready to make another Super Bowl run. We’re confident in each other, and we trust one another.”

That certainly makes sense.

While Sherman is certainly not nearing the end of his career, he is likely nearing the end of his prime.

It only adds up that he wouldn’t want to be traded away from a team that over the last five years has won a Super Bowl, played in another, and won at least one playoff game each season. Few teams can offer that kind of stability.
