Report: Lakers trying to sign George Hill to play alongside Lonzo Ball

The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly set to meet with veteran free agent guard George Hill, who could sign a one-year deal, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne provided a bit of extra context to how Hill might be utilized.

In addition to his ability to contribute on the court, Hill would be an ideal mentor to the rookie guard.

Hill is heading into his 10th season as a pro. Originally a first-round pick out of IUPUI by the San Antonio Spurs, Hill played three seasons for the Spurs before heading to the Indiana Pacers in a trade. He spent five seasons with the Pacers before he was traded again, this time to the Utah Jazz before last season.

Averaging 31.5 minutes per game last year for the playoff-bound Jazz, Hill scored 16.9 points, pulled down 3.4 rebounds, dished 4.2 assists and registered one steal per game.
