Report: John Elway, Broncos agree on five-year contract

John Elway and the Broncos are looking to move up in the draft

After some speculation that John Elway might be lured to another team, the Denver Broncos have locked up their general manager for the next five years.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news Monday that Denver and Elway agreed to a five-year deal that keeps in in charge of the Broncos’ personnel department through 2021.

Elway was responsible for bringing in Peyton Manning and building up a championship-winning team around him. Those moves led to the Broncos defeating the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

Now he has the tall task of keeping his defensive core group of players together, along with figuring out how to get his offense on the winning track.

The former Broncos quarterback and Hall of Famer took over duties as GM and Executive Vice President back in 2011. Since then, the Broncos have gone 67-29, making the playoffs in his first five years while missing out by one game last season.
