Diamondbacks P Robbie Ray carted off field after being hit in head

Diamondbacks pitcher Robbie Ray is head in the head by a line drive.

A scary situation unfolded at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Friday night. Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Robbie Ray was struck in the head by a line drive off the bat of Cardinals first baseman Luke Voit.

The play in and of itself was as scary as it gets.

Ray was able to stand and walk to the cart that helped him off the field. In the process, he received a standing ovation from the home crowd.

Considering what we have seen pitchers go through in recent seasons, it was great to see Ray make such a gesture. That still doesn’t make the situation itself much less scary.
