Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas has something in common with many of his fans — he is a basketball fan. So, when the opportunity arose recently for him to help the Denver Nuggets land a big-name free agent — former Atlanta Hawks power forward Paul Millsap — he was more than happy to help.

“I got a phone call from (Nuggets director of pro personnel Jared Jeffries), who told me to show up to get Paul Millsap, and I took the call and it happened,” said Thomas, via the Denver Broncos’ official website. “That day, Paul Millsap was here, and that was it.”

Thomas is an Atlanta native and played his college football at Georgia Tech. Linebacker Brandon Marshall and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie also lent a helping hand. Millsap agreed to a four-year, $90 million contract with the Nuggets on Monday but will officially join the team via a three-team trade.

With the addition of Millsap to the lineup, Thomas is like many Nuggets fans. He feels confident that the team has the nucleus it needs to make it back to the playoffs. The Nuggets missed making the playoffs last season by one game. They haven’t been back since losing in the first round back in 2013.

So, he has decided to go ahead and call it: “I’m calling it: We will make the playoffs.”
