Vince Young out 4-6 weeks with torn hamstring

Vince Young

Vince Young was injured last week during practice with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and now we know the extent of the damage.

Roughriders head coach and general manager Chris Jones informed the media Monday that Young will be out between four and six weeks with a torn hamstring.

Yikes.

The chances of Young making a successful comeback attempt were already slim before his injury. The 34-year-old quarterback hasn’t competed in pro football for three years, and he hasn’t appeared in a regulation game since the 2011 season as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.

After he was injured last week, Jones expressed a bit of frustration about trying to evaluate an injured quarterback.

“Anytime you’re trying to evaluate quarterbacks and you get one hurt, it’s never a positive,” Jones said.

The Roughriders will already be into their 2017 season by the time Young is healthy enough to continue his comeback attempt. They are set to hit the road for Week 1 against Montreal on June 22.
