Three A’s players knock first MLB homers in the same game

Franklin Barreto is one of three A's players to hit their first MLB homers on Saturday.

The Oakland Athletics have definitely decided to go with a youth movement now that they’re out of the playoff race in the American League.

With a stockpile of young bats in the minors, the A’s have recently called up top prospects Matt Olson, Franklin Barreto and Jaycob Brugman  from Triple-A Nashville.

All three went deep for their first MLB homers against Chicago White Sox starter James Shields on Saturday.

It started with a two-run homer from Olson in the first inning.

Brugman then hit a solo in the second off Shields. Then, in his MLB debut, Barreto hit a two-run homer in the third inning.

This is only the second time in MLB history that three players on the same team have hit their first homers in the same game. The last team to do it? The Kansas City Packers back in 1914.

Talk about a rare accomplishment.
