Report: Salary conflict could keep Jeremy Maclin from signing with Bills

Jeremy Maclin

Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin surprisingly wound up a free agent on June 2. It did not take long for a receiver-needy Buffalo Bills to reach out to host Maclin for a visit.

Though, according to a report by NFL.com, it is speculated that a salary conflict could be the reason that Maclin left New York without a deal.

Earlier in the day, it appeared that Maclin signing with the Bills was a done deal according to running back LeSean McCoy, per the NFL.com report. Such a deal would have reunited McCoy and Maclin, who were teammates on the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009-14.

Mike Garafolo also speculated in his report that Maclin may be more interested in playing for the Baltimore Ravens. A team many consider more of a playoff contender. Maclin is reportedly traveling to Baltimore to next meet with the Ravens.

Maclin is easily the best free agent receiver left in the league. The former overall 19th pick from the 2009 draft could soon become involved in a bidding war considering the heavy interest he is garnering. That could mean bad news for the Bills.
