Weight incentives are all the rage these days. Philadelphia Eagles running back LeGarrette Blount joins Eddie Lacy and Dontari Poe as players who stand to earn a nice chunk of cash by meeting weight requirements this summer.
According to Field Yates of ESPN, Blount will earn $50,000 if he shows up to camp weighting between 240-245 pounds.

Last season, which was a career year, Blount was listed at 250 pounds. He rushed for 1,161 yards and led the league in touchdown runs with 18.
Obviously the Eagles believe the power back can be even more effective if he’s slimmed down a bit. They likely are hoping the reduction in weight will help him to be a bit more nimble, in addition to his ability to carry a pile of defenders.
There is still plenty of time for Blount to get his weight down, if he’s not already there. The Eagles will begin training camp practices on July 27, and players will be reporting starting on July 24.
