Report: Heat to make push for Gordon Hayward

The Utah Jazz stand a reasonably good chance of re-signing All-Star forward Gordon Hayward once free agency starts next month. But it looks like the team will have a whole lot of competition.

Previous reports suggested that Hayward is one of the Boston Celtics’ top targets in free agency. That’s not necessarily a surprise considering Boston is expected to be big-time players in the offseason.

Now, it looks like the Miami Heat will be joining Boston in pursuit of Hayward.

“The Miami Heat intend to join the Boston Celtics in pursuit of Utah Jazz All-Star forward Gordon Hayward when free agency starts July 1, according to league sources,” ESPN’s Marc Stein reported on Thursday.

Hayward would definitely be a good fit with what Miami is attempting to build back east. He put up a career-best 21.9 points per game while shooting at a stellar 47 percent mark from the field this past regular season.

Now that Chris Bosh has come off Miami’s books, it has a nice amount of money to spend in free agency. Hayward would definitely be a good get for the squad.
