Kam Chancellor wants a new contract but isn’t pushing hard for it right now. At least not in the form of another holdout or any public dissent. At least one of his teammates thinks he’s due for a raise, too.
On Tuesday, he said he hopes the deal takes care of itself.

Perhaps this is because he’s already been assured that it will happen. Pete Carroll made sure to let media know that’s the message the Seahawks are sending.

The Seahawks should get a new deal done with Chancellor before training camp. He was unhappy with his contract last year and held out until late September, a move his teammates weren’t all that upset about.
One of the elite safeties in the NFL, Chancellor was tremendous once he did come back to the Seahawks. He finished the season with 79 combined tackles and two interceptions, despite missing four games.
If no new deal comes, Chancellor would earn just over $8 million in 2017.
Of course, the Seahawks have a lot of other mouths to feed as well. So, a huge deal for Chancellor could mean someone else won’t get a big payday in Seattle. It’s a complicated juggling act, but it sounds like Seattle smartly considers Chancellor to be one of its more indispensable players and that he’ll soon be a happy, rich man.
