Markelle Fultz to work out for Sixers Saturday

There had not been much talk about Washington product Markelle Fultz working out for the Philadelphia 76ers. That all changed on Friday with reports surfacing that Philadelphia was in deep discussions with the Boston Celtics to acquire the No. 1 overall pick in next week’s draft.

According to ESPN’s Ian Begley, Fultz will now work out in front of the Sixers’ brass Saturday.

“Projected No. 1 pick Markelle Fultz will work out for Philadelphia today, league sources confirm to ESPN,” the report read.

This is the latest sign that Philadelphia will likely find a way to land the former Huskie star.

To be clear, this doesn’t mean that a trade between Boston and Philadelphia has been finalized. Discussions are expected to continue until draft day on Thursday. Though, it sure looks like something is close to getting done.

Expectations are that the Sixers will send the No. 3 pick in this year’s draft and multiple future first-round picks to Boston for Fultz.

If Fultz does indeed land in Philadelphia, the team will have a tremendously talented young core that also includes Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
