Sadly, the NBA career of French center Jonathan Jeanne may be over before it ever begins.
Via Jeanne’s agent Bouna Ndiaye, Shams Charania of The Vertical reported that the expected first-round pick was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, which is described as “a potentially career-ending disorder.”
“Marfan syndrome is a genetic disorder that affects the body’s connective tissues,” Charania wrote. “Former Baylor standout Isaiah Austin was diagnosed with the disorder in his pre-draft process in 2014 and announced in December 2016 that he was cleared to resume full basketball activities.”
It was added that “Jeanne, 19, is not expected to receive clearance for NBA workouts moving forward.”
Certainly, the fact that his potential career is stalled is unfortunate, to say the least. But finding out about this condition now is far preferable to some of the alternatives.
In his most recent mock draft, Jonathon Givony of Draft Express had Jeanne going No. 22 to the Brooklyn Nets.
