The Minnesota Timberwolves struggled through an inconsistent 2016-17 campaign that saw them put up 31 wins. Though, second-year player Karl-Anthony Towns took that next step to elite status.

The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 25.1 points and 12.3 rebounds while shooting at a stellar 54 percent from the field.

This hasn’t stopped Towns from working hard to improve his skill-set in the months following the conclusion of his sophomore season. He also plans on splitting his time between Minnesota and Los Angeles during the summer.

“I’ll spend a good amount of my summer in Minneapolis,” Towns said, via the Star-Tribune . “I’ve been there quite a lot. I’ve always enjoyed Minneapolis. I’m trying to get back soon.”

Towns, 21, is expected to be the franchise cornerstone in Minnesota. He’s among the most-skilled big men in the entire game. He still has a lot of room to grow.

It’s in this that Towns is preparing to work on some stuff to improve his game.

“Always secretive stuff,” he said. “Nobody knew I had the one-legged fadeaway until I pulled it out. I always have something in my toolbox waiting to come out.”

Towns expanded his game to the three-point line in 2016-17, averaging more than one made three per contest and shooting at a 37 percent clip from distance. If he’s planning on adding another dimension to his offensive game, it sure will spell trouble for opponents next season.

At the very least, we know Towns isn’t taking the offseason to rest. That’s a very good sign for the Wolves.
