Eddie Lacy doing P90X workouts again to help make weight

Eddie Lacy

Seattle Seahawks running back Eddie Lacy has plenty of reasons to continue dropping weight. To aid in this effort he’s going back to Tony Horton’s Beachbody workouts, otherwise known as P90X, which he has used before to get into shape.

On Saturday, Lacy posted a short loop of himself on the ground doing part of this workout routine with the hashtags #BeachbodyPartner and #BeachbodyOnDemand.

Not only is Lacy working hard to drop weight, he’s also challenging his fans to do the same using the Beachbody workouts.

“The 30-day challenge, it’s pretty much something else that I can do to help me reach my goal, reach what I have to do to stay in condition and be in better condition,” he said, via Greg Bell of The News Tribune. “And I figured I can get some fans involved, try something new, something different.”

Lacy also is implementing a nutrition team to help him eat foods that are going to help him, rather than hurt him in his quest to stay fit.

“It’s great, actually. It’s a lot better than it has been,” Lacy said of his weight, which was 231 in 2013 coming out of Alabama. “And it’s going to continue to get better.”

The former Green Bay Packers back is known for being a bit extra chunky. He already met his first weight goal for Seattle, however, earning $55,000 in the process. He can still earn plenty more by the time the season begins if he continues to whittle his frame down to his target weight of 245 pounds.

If he stays healthy and in good shape, then there is no reason to think Lacy can’t make a big difference for Seattle’s offense. The former two-time 1,000-yard rusher is the perfect fit for this offense, which has lacked a consistent running back since Marshawn Lynch retired.
