Warriors still not sure whether Steve Kerr will coach in Game 1 of the Finals

Steve Kerr Golden State Warriors Game 2 2017 NBA Finals

One of the biggest questions surrounding the NBA Finals is whether Steve Kerr will be healthy enough to coach the Golden State Warriors. Only a day before the series gets underway, interim coach Mike Brown stated that he still doesn’t know.

Brown has recently stated that Kerr could be back for the finals, though general manager Bob Myers has been less optimistic.

The Warriors have generally won both with and without Kerr on the sideline. Their record setting 73-9 season included a 43-game stint where Luke Walton coached for a recovering Kerr, and Golden State was 39-4 in that stretch. With Brown manning the sidelines in the 2017 postseason, the Warriors have posted a perfect 10-0 record.

If Kerr does not return, Brown will have the opportunity to coach against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who he coached from 2005-2010, and again in the 2013-14 season.
