Tom Brady’s agent denies he was diagnosed with a concussion last year

The enver-ending saga of Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen appears to have taken an unexpected turn.

Just a few days after Brady’s wife indicated that the quarterback played through a concussion last year, a statement that was met with criticism around the NFL, Brady’s agent himself has denied that it ever happened.

“Tom (Brady) was not diagnosed with a concussion last year,” Brady’s agent, Don Yee said, via Adam Schefter of ESPN. “Many of the protocols and safeguards still are evolving, and it’s obviously a good thing the organization and everyone close to him is vigilant and always looking out for his health.”

That throws an entirely new wrinkle into this situation. Remember, the NFL itself denied earlier this week that Brady himself suffered a concussion last season (more on that here).

As the face of the NFL, Brady continues to play a vital role in what happens around the league. If it were determined that he did play through a concussion last season, it would lead to a less-than-friendly news cycle for the NFL at a time when the concussion issue continues to be a paramount point of contention around the league.

Yee’s comments on Friday add another layer to the situation. If the NFL concluded Brady didn’t suffer a concussion, that’s one thing. But the man tasked with representing the future Hall of Fame quarterback siding with the league. Well, that’s a completely different ball game right there.
