Report: Leonard Fournette signs fully-guaranteed contract with Jaguars

Leonard Fournette

The Jacksonville Jaguars have wasted little time getting running back Leonard Fournette to put pen to paper on a rookie deal.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the four-year deal is fully guaranteed and that the contract does not contain offsets. As a first-round pick, Fournette can be kept from hitting free agency in five years, as the team owns an option for that fifth year.

The Jaguars recently said Fournette will have to earn his starting job, but that’s nothing but hyperbole at this point. He’s going to be the starter. Period. You don’t use a No. 4 overall pick on a running back to let him sit on the bench.

During his three years at LSU, Fournette racked up 4,356 yards from scrimmage and 41 touchdowns. He’s going to be used, and used often as a rookie in 2017.
