Is Colin Kaepernick a good fit for the Seattle Seahawks? Possibly. Will he sign with the team and be Russell Wilson’s backup? Apparently, that’s not likely.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter cited Real Football Network’s Pat Kirwan, who said, “I don’t think that’s going to happen,” in relation to Kaepernick going to Seattle.
Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times noted that Kirwan and Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll are close.
Kaepernick’s free agency status has certainly been a hot button issue over the offseason. He’s certainly better than many quarterbacks who have signed. Reports even indicated that his visit with the Seattle went well and was “content to be a backup” behind Wilson.
The fact that he’s still yet to sign brings us back to the question of if he’s being kept out because of his national anthem stance in 2016. It’s a complicated issue. But certainly that theory gains validity every day that goes by without Kaepernick on an NFL team.
The Seahawks are, by far, the team that’s shown the most interest in Kaepernick in 2017. If Seattle truly is out of the mix, it’s back to the drawing board for Kaepernick and truly anyone’s guess as to where he might go.
