NBA fines Isaiah Thomas $25,000 for inappropriate comments

Isaiah Thomas

The NBA had been investigating an incident between Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas and a fan during Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Thursday night.

Here’s the incident in question.

Thomas has now been fined $25,000 for inappropriate comments directed at the heckler in Washington.

“Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas has been fined $25,000 for directing inappropriate language toward a fan, it was announced today by Kiki VanDeWeghe, Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations,” the league announced on its official website Wednesday.

There was surely some inappropriate language used there by Thomas. Then again, we have no real idea what led to the response. Some conclude that Thomas was being chastised for losing his tooth earlier in the series.

Frustration was obvious here, as Thomas finished Game 3 with 13 points on 3-of-8 shooting. That came after a 53-point performance back in Game 2.
