Mike Zimmer to miss some Vikings OTAs recovering from eighth eye surgery

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer underwent his eighth eye surgery last Wednesday, and now he’s taking an extended leave of absence to recover and get healthy.

The team issued an official statement, noting Zimmer is expected to be “back on the field in a few weeks.”

This means Minnesota will be without Zimmer through some of its OTAs.

The coach’s original injury occurred during a Halloween game last season against the Chicago Bears. He underwent emergency surgery, which has turned into a series of complicated procedures, the latest of which involved taking silicone out of his eye and inserting a gas bubble into it.

We wish Zimmer and his family well during this time of recovery and hope he can make it back onto the field soon, fully healthy after such a laborious ordeal the past half year.
