WATCH: Vicious hit ends Mississippi State spring game

Mississippi State spring game

An absolutely unnecessary vicious hit ended the Mississippi State spring game Saturday afternoon. Safety Johnathan Abram almost took the head right off his teammate, running back Bennie Braswell, facilitating an end to the scrimmage.

You know you guys are teammates, right?

This was a clear case of targeting by Abram, a junior college transfer student out of Jones County Junior College, who will certainly have some explaining to do here.

It’s understandable that he’s trying to impress coaches and teammates with physical play, but this was well over the line. Not only is this type of play one that would hurt the team during a game in season, but it could have legitimately ended the life of Braswell, who needed extra attention after the brutal hit.

Hopefully Abram learned his lesson, and we’re glad Braswell is okay after enduring such a blow.
