Warriors G Klay Thompson credits the weather for hot shooting

The Golden State Warriors won their 12th consecutive game in grand fashion Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. A combination of tantalizing passes from Stephen Curry and red-hot shooting from Klay Thompson led the team to yet another brilliant performance.

Now, heading into the final week of the season, Golden State is playing the best basketball of the season. Not a bad time for that to happen.

For Klay, this recent trend of hot shooting can be credited to the weather getting sunnier in Northern California. No, really.

“I’d probably say the weather’s gotten better,” Thompson said after dropping 41 Tuesday night. “The sunshine has been so good to me. It just puts me in a great mood to come to the gym every day, get my work in, go home, enjoy it. The outdoors. The Bay Area is beautiful. That’s a big part of it. Not even kidding.”

This is definitely a nice change-of-pace form those claiming the Warriors’ winning streak can be attributed to Thompson himself signing a fan’s toaster. Yeah, that’s a real thing too.

Whatever the reason, Klay has been on absolute fire recently. Including Tuesday’s 41-point performance, the All-Star is averaging 24.7 points while shooting at a 47 percent mark from three-point range during the Warriors’ 12-game winning streak.

It’s not a coincidence that the two-time defending Western Conference champs are beating their opponents by an average of 16 points per game during that span.

Let’s just hope for the rest of the Western Conference, that it’s cloudy and not raining threes in California come playoff time.
