Report: Seahawks targeted Pat Mahomes, interested in QB on Day 2

Seahawks owner Paul Allen

As things turned out in Round 1 of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs traded up to the 10th pick to select quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

If things had not played out that direction, the Seattle Seahawks would have reportedly considered drafting Mahomes had he fallen to late in the first round.

The Seahawks ended up trading their 31st overall pick to the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers. In exchange, they received the 49ers’ second-round pick (No. 34 overall) and a fourth-rounder.

If this report plays out, the Seahawks seem likely to add another quarterback in the second or third round.

Behind starter Russell Wilson in depth is second-year quarterback Trevone Boykin. Wilson is only 28 years old, but the Seahawks would be wise to add some further talent beyond Boykin.
