The San Francisco Giants are hurting in the outfield with both Michael Morse and Mac Williamson injured. This led to the team signing veteran Drew Stubbs earlier in the week. Now, doubling down on the free-agent market, the Giants are reportedly signing outfielder Melvin Upton to a minor league deal.

Upton, 32, was released by the Toronto Blue Jays prior to the start of the season after being told he would not make the 25-man roster following spring training.

The 12-year veteran hit .238 with 20 homers and 61 RBI with the San Diego Padres and Toronto last season. He will report to Triple-A Sacramento before likely being called up to the big league club here soon.
