Former Saints first-round pick works out at Tennessee Pro Day

Robert Meachem

Former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Robert Meachem has not played in an NFL game since the 2014 season. In between then and now, the Tennessee product has done time in jail for failing to pay child support and alimony.

That sidelined the receiver’s freedom for 30 days, from Valentine’s Day up until the middle of last month.

Now ready to put everything behind him and start anew, Meachem actually took part in the Tennessee Pro Day on Friday. This gave the former first-round pick an opportunity to showcase his talents in front of the NFL’s 32 teams.

After all, there were multiple potential high-round picks in the upcoming 2017 NFL Draft on hand to work out in front of scouts, coaches and general managers. That list includes pass rusher Derek Barnett and running back Alvin Kamara, both of whom are expected to be selected in the first two rounds later this month.

We’re not exactly too sure how the workout itself went for Meachem, but it’s readily apparent that he wants to give this NFL thing a go once again.

During his seven-year career with the Saints, the 32-year-old Meachem recorded 178 receptions for 2,194 yards and 27 touchdowns.
