Could LeBron James move on from the Cavaliers?

The drama. It would be absolutely absurd if LeBron James decided at some point at a later date to move on from the Cleveland Cavaliers once again.

However ridiculous this may seem on the surface, one NBA insider it not closing the door on that possibility.

In an interview on ESPN Radio Friday, ESPN NBA reporter Dave McMenamin suggested that it’s a real possibility LeBron could move on from the Cavaliers after next season.

“I would probably be on the yes train, if I had to pick,” McMenamin said when asked whether he believes LeBron would finish up his career outside of Cleveland.

Wouldn’t that be a kick to the backside to fans in Cleveland? Some of James’ legacy was tarnished around the NBA when he departed the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat and South Beach following the 2009-10 season. While James would go on to win the title in two of his four seasons with Miami, some openly questioned whether he abandoned a sinking ship.

Now, with the defending champion Cavaliers looking to make their third consecutive trip to the NBA Finals, this is pretty much the worst possible time for rumors to start heating up once again.

For his part, McMenamin is well respected around the NBA world and has previously displayed solid insider knowledge when it comes to the Cavaliers themselves.

Though, this could be more about the scribe utilizing conjecture more than anything.

Time will surely tell there.
