Bengals QB A.J. McCarron to open sushi restaurant called ‘Ajian’

A.J. McCarron

This is not a joke. Cincinnati Bengals backup quarterback A.J. McCarron apparently has a dream that expands far beyond ever becoming a starter for his team.

The fourth-year quarterback is looking to enter the culinary world and is opening his own sushi restaurant, quite uniquely named.

Talk about a play on words. Some may find McCarron’s choice of restaurant name quite brilliant. Others may not be so thrilled with this name. Nevertheless, McCarron’s ultimate plan is to open 10 locations after the first one starts up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Co-owner, Pete Zimmer shared his thoughts about what customers will experience at the new sushi restaurant.

“You walk into our fast-casual atmosphere and you’ll design your own roll every time,” Ajian Sushi co-owner and front man Pete Zimmer told Christina Ausley of The Crimson White. “At the hit of a button we’ll have white or brown rice, and from there you’ll pick your proteins, vegetables, toppings and sauces for close to $8 a roll.”

Per the report, there will be such creations as a flamin’ hot Cheeto roll and an actual peanut butter and jelly roll.

We wish McCarron success in his new business endeavor, and wish him luck about the razzing he will likely earn because of the establishment’s interesting name.

He might just need it.
