Report: Jorge Soler could start season on DL

Jorge Soler

According to Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com, Royals outfielder Jorge Soler has been diagnosed with a strained oblique and will “likely open the 2017 season on the disabled list.”

The 2016 World Series champion is no stranger to injuries having an abbreviated season last year playing in just 86 games with the Cubs. He finished his campaign with a .238/.328/.434 line with 12 home runs and 31 RBI. His strikeout rate did fall from the previous season however by 5-percent. So that’s some good news there.

Terrance Gore will make the roster out of camp, and Paulo Orlando could be taking over responsibilities in right field until Soler is healthy enough to back his 2017 regular season debut.
