Report: Cowboys re-sign Darren McFadden

Darren McFadden

The Dallas Cowboys will have a veteran backup for Ezekiel Elliott this upcoming season. According to reports, the team has retained Darren McFadden on a one-year contract.

After putting up over 1,400 total yards as the Cowboys’ primary ball carrier back in 2015, McFadden suffered through an injury-plagued campaign this past season. He played in a total of four games, taking a major backseat to Elliott in the process.

The former Oakland Raiders first-round pick will act as Elliott’s top backup this season, likely indicating the end of Alfred Morris’ disastrous one-year tenure with the team. He has reportedly been on the trade block over the past month-plus.
