The Dallas Cowboys might not be adding Adrian Peterson to team up with Ezekiel Elliott, but it sure looks like the team is looking for other options behind the 2016 breakout star.

According to Clarence Hill of the Star-Telegram, Dallas is attempting to trade former Pro Bowler Alfred Morris.

“The Cowboys will try to trade Morris and his $1.2 million base salary this season as he is not considered a good fit in spot duty behind Elliott, according to a source,” Hill reported.

A sixth-round pick of the Washington Redskins back in 2012, Morris jumped on to the scene big time in his first three NFL seasons. During that time, he recorded 1,000-plus rushing yards each season, tallying nearly 4,000 combined rushing yards and 28 touchdowns.

He fell off big time in D.C. after the Shanahan’s left and didn’t play a prominent role in Jay Gruden’s offense in 2014-15. This led to the Redskins letting Morris walk in free agency. At that point, he signed a two-year, $3.5 million deal with Dallas. Though, it didn’t get any better last season with Morris putting up a total of 243 rushing yards in 14 games.

Set to make just $1.2 million in base salary next season, Morris would come cheap from a financial perspective. With that said, any team looking to add the two-time Pro Bowler would have to run a scheme that suits what he brings to the table. Morris has put up a combined 50 receptions in five NFL seasons. That surely limits his market.
