Broncos GM John Elway urges confirmation of Trump Supreme Court nominee

John Elway and the Broncos are looking to move up in the draft

Denver Broncos general manager and executive vice president of football operations John Elway isn’t exactly known for taking strong, public political stances.

But that all changed in an instant when he sent out a letter on Broncos letterhead urging the Senate Judiciary Committee to confirm Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump’s United States Supreme Court nominee.

In his letter, shared by Peter Marcus of The Gazette, Elway touts Gorsuch for his “tremendous intelligence, character and fairness” as a judge the past decade-plus on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.

“His credentials, integrity and sound moral compass are major reasons why he’s already received so much bipartisan support for his nomination,” Elway wrote.

Elway also touted Gorsuch as “a big Denver Broncos fan” and said “I’m a big fan of his.”

If Gorsuch is confirmed, it would “return the court to a familiar dynamic, with a five-member majority of conservative justices, all appointed by Republican presidents, and a four-member bloc of liberal justices, all appointed by Democratic presidents,” per the New York Times.
