Warriors increase season ticket prices for 2017-18 by 17 percent

Warriors Oracle Arena

Season ticket holders of the Golden State Warriors got some good news as it relates to Warriors ticket prices on Tuesday. Unfortunately, it was mixed in with some bad news as well.

The good news is that tickets for the 2017 playoffs will be the same price as they were in 2016. In fact, should the Warriors make the NBA Finals, those tickets will be cheaper than they were in 2016. The bad news is that season tickets for the 2017-18 season will cost more.

Rooting for a successful team doesn’t have many drawbacks, but this is one of them.

Golden State is two years removed from an NBA Championship and a year removed from a return trip to the Finals after a 73-9 season. The Warriors presently have the NBA’s best record and are clear championship favorites. That, combined with a superstar laden team, makes it hard to believe that Golden State’s stock will ever be higher.

Cashing in on such a high stock is only natural. But it does come at the literal expense of the team’s loyal fans, which is an unfortunate drawback.
