Shaun Livingston: Teams might think Warriors aren’t tough because of skin color

When asked by local media about the perception that the Golden State Warriors aren’t a tough team, Sean Livingston gave an interesting answer.

That’s certainly one way to look at it.

Another way to look at this perception that Golden State isn’t tough is the simple fact that it blew a 3-1 lead to the Cleveland Cavaliers during the NBA Finals last year.

Or that it’s a team that makes its living on the perimeter, rather than pounding the paint.

Livingston’s comments might have some merit. It’s certainly true that Stephen Curry, Livingston, Klay Thompson and JaVale McGee are on the lighter side. But Draymond Green and Kevin Durant are both decidedly not “light-skinned guys,” as Livingston puts it.

Athletes are always coming up with interesting ways to stay motivated. And if this is what it takes for Livingston to play with an extra edge (not that he’s ever really needed it), then so be it.
