Report: Zach Britton has potential oblique injury

Zach Britton

Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Zach Britton is showing symptoms of a potential oblique injury, according to MLB.com’s Brittany Ghiroli.

Rotoworld reported the two-time All-Star will not be pitching in Wednesday’s intrasquad game because the Orioles don’t want to “take any chances.”

An MRI could be performed for “big” injuries I’m told as well as an ultrasound. These injuries need to be closely monitored, and to say it’s uncomfortable is an understatement given the amount of nerves involved in this potential injury.

With this in mind, the Orioles are going to monitor him very closely.

Britton finished his second All-Star season in 2016 with 0.54 ERA in 67 innings. He was also the recipient of the American League Rivera Reliever Award and led the league in saves.
