Julio Jones: No one can cover me one-on-one

Julio Jones

If there’s one thing that Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones isn’t lacking, it’s talent. Then again, it surely seems that confidence hasn’t been an issue for the All Pro either.

In speaking during Wednesday’s media session in Houston leading up to Super Bowl LI, Jones flashed that confidence most top-end wide receivers must possess in order to be successful.

Jones was asked whether he believes any cornerback in the league can cover him.

“One-on-one? No, I do not,” Jones said, via NFL.com.

The Falcons’ top receiver is set to take on Pro Bowl New England Patriots cornerback Malcolm Butler on Sunday. It’s likely going to end up being one of the best matchups of the Super Bowl.

For his part, Butler envisioned this possibility dating all the way back to his days with West Alabama five years ago. He now views going up against Jones as a dream come true (more on that here).

Jones is coming off an NFC Championship Game performance that saw him catch nine passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Butler himself held Antonio Brown to just three catches when the two were matched up in the AFC Championship Game.
