Drees Brees: Tom Brady would be best QB ever with another Super Bowl win

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees knows a thing or two about being elite. In 16 NFL seasons, he’s thrown for 66,111 yards and 465 touchdowns, winning one Super Bowl with the Saints (XLIV). He’s been incredible in his long NFL career and he’s certainly a first-ballot Hall Of Famer, but even he knows that when all is said and done, he’ll be looking up at the quarterback he thinks could be the GOAT.

According to Josh Katzenstein of NOLA.com, Brees recently remarked that he thinks Brady will acquire “greatest of all time” status with a win over Atlanta in Super Bowl 51. He was speaking at a promotional event and had this to say, per Katzenstein:

“I appreciate great quarterback play. Matt Ryan, the year he’s had, phenomenal. Tom Brady being Tom Brady. He’s one of the best of all time, if not the best. Certainly, if he wins five Super Bowls, he should deserve the title as being the best.”

For what it’s worth, there is statistical evidence to back up Brady being the best quarterback ever, but really, all you have to do is take a look at his overall career to come to that conclusion.

Still, keep in mind that Brady is currently tied for most Super Bowl wins by a quarterback (four) with the likes of Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw. A win over Matt Ryan and the Falcons would put him on top of that mountain, and considering everything else he’s done in his career it’s basically a no-brainer.

If Brady wins one more he’ll be the greatest of all time. If Brees can see it (and he obviously has some competitive reasons not to) that means it’s more than obvious.
