New England Patriots hero Tedy Bruschi is going to be an honorary captain on Sunday when the franchise hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.
For the Patriots and their fans, Bruschi has been quite the good luck charm since retiring back in 2009. He’s been an honorary captain eight times since then, and the Pats haven’t lost a single game in which he took on that role.
Patriots say Tedy Bruschi will be their honorary captain Sunday. Patriots are 8-0 in games when he has been honored by them since retiring.

One of the mainstay players during three of New England’s Super Bowl wins, Bruschi was a fan favorite. He came into the league as an unheralded third-round pick out of Arizona and turned himself into a franchise legend by making critical plays in clutch moments.
He also overcame a mild stroke back in February of 2005 only to play three more years. He finished his 13-year career with the NFL record for most interceptions in a row returned for a touchdown (four), a record that stood until 2015 when William Gay did one better for the Steelers, the same team that is coming to Foxborough this Sunday.
