Report: Chip Kelly interviewing for Jaguars OC job

Chip Kelly could be the next offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, as he’s one of the men interviewing for the job along with incumbent Nathaniel Hackett.

Hays Carlyon reported Kelly is at EverBank Field Monday, presumably for the interview, which Ian Rapoport of NFL Media confirmed shortly afterwards.

It’s not the first time Kelly has visited the Jaguars this offseason. He was interviewed by the team for its once-vacant head coaching position, which was eventually filled by former interim head coach Doug Marrone.

If Kelly were to be hired, it would be an interesting dynamic between himself and Marrone, a former offensive line coach who is a big proponent of quarterback Blake Bortles.

That Kelly’s system is quarterback-friendly is not up for debate. He’s gotten some tremendous production out of the likes of Nick Foles and Colin Kaepernick in the past and would have a phenomenal group of young skill players to work with if he did land in Jacksonville.

Landing Kelly here would be a slash hire for owner Shahid Khan, and it could be exactly what Bortles needs to get back on track after a miserable season. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens next, as the Jaguars are a team in desperate need of a spark.
