Chip Kelly loses out on Jaguars OC job

Robert Saleh took a shot at Chip Kelly's coaching staff

All the talk of the Jacksonville Jaguars bringing in Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator can officially be thrown out the window. The team announced on Wednesday that it has retained Nathaniel Hackett — yet another holdover from the Gus Bradley regime.

This is somewhat of a surprise considering the Jaguars were openly interviewing other candidates for the job. It also tells us a story of an organization that viewed Bradley as its primary issue during yet another last-place finish in the AFC South.

New head coach Doug Marrone has made sure to keep the continuity afloat in Jacksonville. Retaining Hackett just adds to this even more. It’s also an indication that Chip Kelly won’t be coaching in the NFL during the 2017 season.
