Carmelo Anthony: Facing things you find unpleasant will enrich your life

Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks haven’t exactly been on the same page this year, and tension seems to be the order of the day with this franchise.

That hasn’t stopped Anthony from seeking out the positive in the midst of such a challenge.

Facing the perception that his career with the Knicks could potentially becoming to a close, reading words penned by a close friend of Phil Jackson that state such a sentiment, he’s responded by playing some of his best ball in years.

In his last five games, Anthony has scored at least 30 points three times, his 45-point performance in quadruple-overtime on Sunday against the Atlanta Hawks being his most impressive performance. He’s clearly determined to prove naysayers wrong about him being a washed-up has-been.

If the Knicks don’t keep him around, there are plenty of teams that have reportedly expressed interest in his services. We took a look at the best options for Anthony, which you can read here. Of course, he’ll have to waive his no-trade clause for anything to happen on this front, but it seems as though he’s more inclined than ever to make that move.

It’s going to be fascinating to watch this situation unfold. The Knicks remain on the outside looking in for the playoffs. With a record of 21-28, they’re still the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference. If they don’t make a surge before the trade deadline, it seems likely we’ll see a deal to move the superstar, though anything is possible right now.
