WATCH: Steve Smith burns Eagles on 34-yard TD

You’d think that by now, teams would know you cannot let Steve Smith Sr. run wild in the secondary. Yet that’s exactly what Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie let happen Sunday when the Baltimore Ravens took on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Just a couple minutes after Smith had to be examined on the sideline following a hard fall, he beat Rodgers-Cromartie off the line and went uncontested down the right sideline. Joe Flacco dropped a ball into the breadbasket and Smith scored an easy touchdown.

We assume Rodgers-Cromartie simply thought there was help over the top there, because any other explanation is inexcusable. As it was, the blown coverage allowed the Ravens to take a 20-14 lead into halftime after they’d been down for most of the game.

The play also marked another career milestone for Smith, who continues to amaze.
