Vikings RB Adrian Peterson returns to practice

Adrian Peterson

The Minnesota Vikings could be on the verge of getting future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson back in the mix for the stretch run.

It’s being reported that the Vikings designated Peterson for return from injured reserve. He’s expected to practice on Wednesday.

Peterson has been out since Week 2 after undergoing injury to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Without Peterson in action, the Vikings’ rushing attack has sputtered. Overall, they rank dead last in the NFL in rushing heading into Week 15.

It was previously noted that Peterson wouldn’t return if the Vikings were completely out of the playoff race. But by virtue of their narrow win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, the Vikings find themselves just one game out of the final wild card spot in the NFC.

While Peterson is slated to return to practice, there’s no telling whether he will return to take on the Indianapolis Colts this upcoming Sunday. Instead, Week 16 seems to be a likelier return date for the all-everything running back.
