Trainer compares Dak Prescott to Tom Brady

What we have seen from Dak Prescott thus far this season hasn’t been done by a first-year starter in the NFL since Tom Brady all the way back in 2001. That last statement might be debatable, but a 10-1 record through the first 11 games of Prescott’s career compares favorably to the 11-3 mark Brady put up in his first year as a starter.

Statistically, Prescott is wiping the floor with his veteran counterpart. Prescott has put up 23 total touchdowns compared to just two interceptions. In comparison, Brady tallied 18 touchdowns and 12 picks in his first year as a starter.

What’s even more amazing about this is the fact that Prescott is doing this is a rookie mid-round pick. At the very least, Brady was able to sit behind Drew Bledsoe for a year in New England.

Needless to say, the comparisons are real here.

Add former Tom Brady strength and conditioning coach Tom Shaw to the list of people comparing the Dallas’ quarterback to Brady himself.

Shaw, who has also worked with the Manning brothers in the past, compared Prescott’s preparation and leadership skills to Brady himself. In doing, so he also made sure to note that Prescott’s drive and willingness to focus solely on football compares to Brady as well (via NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport).

This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Prescott’s rookie season has already entailed leaving endorsement deals on the table to spend time with his grandma and avoiding a Kanye West concert because it was past his bedtime. It’s this type of dedication hat has helped him mature into one of the league’s best quarterbacks as a rookie. It’s also not a coincidence.
