Texas A&M defensive star Myles Garrett is set to leave school early and declare for the 2017 NFL Draft, to the surprise of pretty much nobody.
Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle passed along this news on Saturday night as the nation watched Clemson destroy Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl.

Then shortly afterwards, Garrett issued a statement confirming the report.

A near unanimous No. 1 overall talent by NFL analysts and scouts, Garrett is an absolute monster on the edge who should make an immediate impact as a rookie.
In his three years at Texas A&M, Garrett became the most feared pass rusher in the nation, racking up 31 sacks and an incredible 47 tackles for a loss in 34 games. Often double- and triple-teamed by offensive linemen, tight ends and running backs, Garrett still managed to make an impact on pretty much every game he played.
At this point, the biggest question is if he goes No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. Where he lands largely depends on whether a quarterback-needy team takes one of the top passers, rather than Garrett.
