Pete Carroll won’t rule out scrimmage with the Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies and head coach Chris Petersen are less than a month away from playing in one of the biggest games in program history. The Pac-12 champions are set to take on Alabama in the national semifinal on New Year’s Eve.

But before that, Peterson and his Huskies may look to scrimmage with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.

While this might not be allowed, the hypothetical would pretty much set the football world on fire. We’ve all been privy to conversations surrounding the idea that a top-end college football team could beat one of the worst teams in the NFL.

This has typically concluded the over-used argument that Alabama itself could defeat the Cleveland Browns.

As it is, Seattle isn’t Cleveland and the Huskies surely aren’t the Crimson Tide — as evidenced by them being 16.5-point underdogs in the Peach Bowl.

None of this really matters to Pete Carroll. In response to Peterson, Seattle’s head man had this to say.

“Our boys will be ready for them. You wanna bring them out here?” Carroll said, via ESPN 710 in Seattle. “Come on, bring ’em over here, Coach.”

As great as this would be, rules governing said scrimmages between college football teams and professional squads strictly prohibit them from happening. I guess we’ll just have to continue to debate the idea of a college team beating a professional club until these rules change.
