Pete Carroll: Seahawks ‘just getting started’ after winning NFC West

The Seattle Seahawks, clad in florescent “color rush” lime green uniforms, handily beat the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday Night Football.  The win was what the Seahawks needed to clinch the NFC West. It has been a bumpy road at times for the Seahawks, whose record sits at 9-4-1. Head Coach Pete Carroll said as much per Brady Henderson of ESPN, while indicating his team is just now starting to click.

“We made it through a lot of stuff to get to this point. We’re just getting started.”

Seattle’s Thursday night victory kept the Seahawks perfect at home this season.

The Rams had no chance at all in this game, which turned out much better for the Seahawks compared to the last time the two teams met. In Week 2, Los Angeles held Seattle to only three points in an ugly road loss.

We can assess from Carroll’s comment that games such as that one didn’t exactly go according to plan. Seattle has had a couple other stinker games along the way. The Seahawks a posted an crazy overtime tie, 6-6, against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 7. Then in Week 10 Seattle lost to Tampa Bay by the score of 14-5.

The Seahawks are headed to the playoffs and have all of the right components to make it all the way to the Super Bowl. Should the team show up and post one of its low-scoring stinkers, however, it would mark the end of the road for Carroll’s Seahawks.
